Conversation with… Lola Mansion
I’ve always loved being comfortable in my clothes, while having a bit of chic. It’s probably why I fell in love with the latest collection Flo Love Paris. I won’t even showcase the Sézane anymore… In this same context, I recently discovered L’Atelier des Précieuses. And it’s with great pleasure that I share with you my visit to its showcase today. Lola Mansion is the creator of the brand. It’s a brand of romantic indoor clothing, with light and sweet notes. Lola is a young woman of 24, who’s one of those young women who decide early on to take things by the horn, take a chance, get in business for themselves and become their own boss. It’s in a small Parisian hotel that she hosted and presented some pieces from her collection in a peaceful setting, a soft bubble in the Parisian cacophony punctuated by an atmosphere that looks like her, a moment full of poetry and consistency.
I’m 24 and I’m the founder of L’Atelier des Précieuses a young brand of clothing for the home. Before I launched, I majored in a styling training/modeling curriculum at ESMOD Paris. During these three years of studies, I had the chance to do internships at CHLOÉ, DRESS GALLERY and PICOCA. Three completely different houses, each of which has contributed to my desire to create my own.
Fashion, for me, it’s never been an aspiration but a duty! At age 14, I begged my father to visit ESMOD so we could buy their school drawing method as I wanted to train and be ready for the enrollment process… Five years later, I made it in with my eyes wide open and excited about this new adventure I had dreamed of for so long!
L’Atelier des Précieuses was born during my third and final year at ESMOD, during which I had to prepare my graduation project: the creation of a brand.
I thought of “L’Atelier des Precious” as a brand name, an idea that was rejected by my professor. So I did not use it for the graduation project. Sad and frustrated because it was a name that spoke to me and looked like me, I decided to get it registered and keep it in the back of my head (and my heart). Today, it is a name I bear with love and pride!
My choice of style is due to my character. I’m a young woman who loves to stay at home, I love strolling at home, take care of me, my little “cocoon”. No way do I want to drag myself in my own house with some raggedy T-shirt!!!! Feeling pretty, in all circumstances, is very important for one’s overall being. So I naturally gravitated towards interior garment creations. Create small feminine pieces, casual, chic and delicate that we can wear with pleasure and affection. The dream, right? (Laughter)
The major difficulty I encountered (and still encounter today), is managing my emotions. When embarking on an adventure like this, we must soon face a host of contradictions, don’t get overwhelmed by stress. Find solutions and move forward.
Creating a clothing line is not limited to drawing and sewing. It was necessary for me to open up to other areas that were foreign to me, such as communication, production, canvass suppliers… Starting a business is also making decisions every day, and have confidence in those decisions. Don’t be afraid of making a mistake. Also, the financial side was not easy to manage. Part of the collection was self-financed. The other part was financed by my relatives: THANK YOU!
